Paytm Launches Solar-Powered Soundbox for Digital Transactions

Paytm has unveiled India’s first solar-powered payment soundbox, designed to streamline digital transactions for merchants. This innovation allows businesses to accept payments using QR codes while ensuring uninterrupted operation without dependence on electrical power sources.
The newly launched soundbox features an integrated solar panel that charges using daylight, ensuring functionality even in areas with limited electricity access.
Equipped with dual power sources—solar and electric battery—it can operate for an entire day after 2-3 hours of sunlight exposure. This eliminates the need for constant electrical charging, making it particularly beneficial for street vendors and small shop owners.
With an electric battery that lasts up to 10 days, the device ensures continuous operation. The soundbox is fitted with a 3-watt speaker that provides instant audio payment confirmation, improving transaction efficiency. It supports 11 Indian languages and offers 4G connectivity, allowing seamless and quick payment processing.
The introduction of this solar-powered soundbox aims to empower small traders, street vendors, and businesses in areas prone to power outages. By providing a sustainable and cost-effective solution, Paytm seeks to enhance digital payment adoption across India.
Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary highlighted that this initiative aligns with efforts to promote small businesses and sustainable technology solutions.
Paytm CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma reaffirmed the company’s commitment to driving innovation in digital payments and expanding access to technology-driven financial services.
